Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni Visual Novel

While random traveling in the sea of the internet I stumbled upon this (possibly old) news.
Yep, I’m looking at Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni visual novel. Probably the news I’ve heard of this project after I picked it up a couple of months ago. Why is it a good thing? Because I rather read the VN than read the manga because based on the first translated chapters I could hardly say many good things about the manga. It really needed a lot of more work done, then again if R07’s idea was to make a VN instead of a short manga in the first place it’ll make more sense the story would develop so slowly. But, truthfully even as a fan the manga had plenty to improve upon.

    Oh yeah, i also found this out yesterday. In fact the OP has already been uploaded to youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmYSv52c0Ug

    I’ve been reading the manga too and i find it a bit faulty, but the idea about the seven school mysteries and becoming a yokai is quite interesting so maybe it can be a good VN. The worse aspect of the manga are the characters i think, but it looks like there´ll be more in the novel.
    I really hope it gets translated, do you know when it goes on sale on Japan?

      It says mid Aug-11 so they’ll be releasing it on the comic Market 80 that is going to be held during Aug of this year.

      Looking forward to seeing it translated in a possible near future because we all probably enjoy it more in a VN format. Oh, also looking forward to some new BGM.

    Yeah, what I’ve read of the manga didn’t appeal to me at all sadly. It just felt so bland and uninspired, like there was no message behind it, it was just brutal for the sake of being brutal.
    Will the VN correct this? Who knows.

      My impression was not good at all. I’m still giving it the benefit of the doubt by not calling a terrible project but I’ll probably be saying more positive things but not saying anything at all about Higanbana. Any of these stories take some time to develop and a couple of chapters from the manga can’t cover much. Still I don’t want another Okami Kakushi mistake again so I rather not have this project go that way.

      Yeah, we’ll probably get a better idea of the story from the VN than from the manga since a VN is more complex and better made.

    To be honest, I seriously doubt it’s going to be on the same level and have the same impact as Umineko and Higurashi. I’ll read it nevertheless, because it’s Ryuukishi after all, but I don’t think this novel will be as interesting. And, I bet, no witches at all ;_;

  4. Riliane says:

    I wouldn’t yet write it off as being boring. I mean the first half of the first novel of Higurashi and Umineko didn’t really impress me neither. It was only after the appearance of the witchs letter and the day after the Hinamizawa-Festival that the story started to get Interesting. So I really think one should first read the novel through before starting to rate it.
